Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific is gearing up for a boom in business events when the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) closes its doors late next year.

Following two years of renovations, the 213-room Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific has transformed its meetings and events space, now featuring nine meeting venues catering for 10 to 500 delegates.

The events centre has also received a makeover, and the menu has been revamped following the recent appointment of executive chef Ryan Dawson.

Revealing the new-look facilities at an intimate lunch last week, director of sales and marketing Lindy Andrews admitted the renovations were a long time coming. But with MICE business representing 50% of overall bookings, she remained confident business would pick up when the SCEC closes its doors from 2013-2016.

“We have been working hard to break perceptions as a tired, outdated hotel, but I am sure we have done it,” she said. “We see a boost for our upgraded facilities and expect a brisk trade in business events during the down time for SCEC.”

In preparation for the corporate boom, Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific has partnered with Synergy Events to create a new DMC, Destination Manly, to attract business events to the local area.

Headed by Synergy Events managing director Cheryl Pearson , the new operation will promote Manly as an international business tourism destination with the hope of driving additional benefits to local businesses.

“Manly is an ideal location for Sydney corporates – we have the facilities and the capability, but we need to get the word out there,” Andrews said. “Destination Manly will help us do that and to put Manly on the map.”

All meeting or conference bookings at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific held between October 01 and January 31, 2013 will receive free daily breakfast and a cocktail hour with unlimited house wines and beer. Offer is based on at least 50 room nights. Conditions apply.
