Business Events Geelong appoints first-ever BDM

Claudia Baranski has joined Business Events Geelong as its first business development manager.

Bringing to the table two decades’ worth of experience in the meetings and events industry, Baranski will be in charge of driving new business to Greater Geelong, the Bellarine and Werribee.

Baranski was first introduced to the world of events in 2000, where she took on the role of account executive at the Melbourne Convention Bureau, looking after the incentive and international associations market.

Since then, Baranski has held positions at Peter Rowland Catering, the Australian Institute of Management and DG Global.

Business Events Geelong bureau manager Mark Day said the timing of Baranski’s appointment “could not be more perfect” as the organisation gears up for a surge of regional conferencing amidst international border closures.

“As we look to long-term recovery post-pandemic and the future growth of our region, the skills and enthusiasm that Claudia brings to the organisation will position us well for success,” he said.

Commenting on her new role, Baranski said: “I’m really excited to be able to work with the team to showcase and sell such an exciting region to the rest of Australia and the world.

“Geelong and the Bellarine have so much to offer business events, and with the new infrastructure in the pipeline, it’s only going to become more desirable.”
