Event puts Queensland on show to the world

Blue waves rolling on Surfers Paradise beach, QLD, Australia

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) has partnered with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Qantas to showcase what the sunshine state has to offer key international markets.

Business to business workshops taking place in Sydney will attract over 60 leading tourism supplier products from across Queensland who will meet with more influential Inbound Tourism Operators (ITOs) – bringing the Best of Queensland to them.

ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said the event provides ITOs with insight into new products, itineraries and destinations being offered by Queensland suppliers which they, in turn, can promote to international visitors via their global travel distribution networks.

“Best of Queensland brings the Queensland tourism product to Sydney based ITOs, making it easier and more convenient for ITOs to meet with leading Queensland tourism businesses and hear first-hand of their latest product offerings,” Shelly added.

Tourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Officer Leanne Coddington said key industry workshops such as these were an ideal opportunity to showcase Queensland’s unrivalled experiences to international buyers.

“Connecting with inbound tourism operators to sell Queensland’s experiences to the world helps grow our international footprint,” Coddington said.

International visitors to Queensland have reached record numbers with 2.4 million international travellers spending $5 billion in the year to March 2016, increases of 10 and 15 percent.
