Fiji inspires events with heart

A Fiji resort is running events with heart, supporting six schools in the Natadola Bay community.

The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is using its meetings, incentives, conferences and events to inject donations and participation into its ‘Insider Community’ program.

Both schools and the local Natadola community have benefited from projects that involved the complete repainting of Malomalo Primary School, provision of academic books, sports equipment and building of school desks and chairs for all six schools in the Natadola area, giving them access to resources necessary for a well rounded education and to encourage a healthy lifestyle for the next generation.

A collaborative effort from the InterContinental Fiji Meetings team saw a sharp increase in the number of both international and local MICE groups for 2015, with many groups engaging in team-building efforts and connecting with the community through InterContinental Meeting’s ‘Insider Collection‘, a range of services that can be added to any business event to engage delegates and inspire memorable bonds while benefiting the local community.

“From enhancing the learning environments in our local schools to preserving the health of our reefs and even participating in Fijian Master Cooking classes, our ‘Insider Collection’ allows business delegates authentic memorable Fijian experiences with a real sense of community service,” InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa MICE director David Pearson said.

More development projects are in the pipeline, all aimed at continuously developing education and supporting schools in the Natadola Bay area alongside the resort’s Community Care Fund.

InterContinental Fiji provide an ‘In The Know’ weekly activity program that is available during the school term for delegates and guests to visit Malomalo Primary School to see the results of their efforts and give guests an opportunity to meet the children and teachers, and witness village life.

“The Malomalo Primary School Visit is one of the recommended ‘In The Know’ experiences offered at the resort and it’s always wonderful to see our guests actively engaging with our projects or initiating their own to assist our efforts to create a brighter future for the Natadola Bay communities,” the resort’s area GM South Pacific Erik Stuebe added.
