Fijian Tourism Expo gets “holistic” for 2016
By admin

The Fijian Tourism Expo has revealed the theme for its 2016 event as “Team Fiji”.

The event will, once again, take place at the Sheraton Ballroom and Convention Centre in Denarau from May 3 to 5.

Organisers revealed that in 2015, the annual event grew by more than 30% with over 600 participants attending over the three day period.

This year’s event aims to build on and enhance last year’s event, according to Tourism Fiji’s director of events Sally Cooper.

“Team Fiji is all about coming together with a view of building a bigger and better tourism industry in a sustained and holistic way,” she said.

“This is by working with the Ministry of Tourism and tourism industry stakeholders to increase the bed inventory and improve the infrastructure for the tourism market, targeting niche markets to attract a greater variety of tourists to our pristine shores with an end focus on yield rather than volume.”

Cooper reported a “very pleasing” response to the opening of registrations in November last year, with a discernible rise in interest from Tourism Fiji’s long-haul markets, North America, UK and Europe.
