Gold Coast takes team to new heights

Gold Coast Business Events has appointed two new Business Development Managers to its thriving team.

Samantha Thompson (right) and Yandell McEnroe (left) are the two new BDMs that are set to take the team to new heights.

Director of business events Anna Case said the new Gold Coast recruits bring with them a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and industry connections.

“At a time when the Gold Coast is absolutely buzzing with an injection of new investment and infrastructure in readiness for the Commonwealth Games, along with the existing diversity of world class venues, attractions and support services, we’re excited to have our latest new team members in place to tell the world all about it,” she said.

Thompson joins Gold Coast Tourism with a strong background in business events. She will be responsible for the association and corporate markets in Queensland, NSW and South Australia.

She will also work closely with the local academic sector to source opportunities for national conferences within Gold Coast universities. Thompson has worked within the Gold Coast business events industry for almost six years in business development and sales roles, most recently at Crowne Plaza.

She also held positions at Bond University and Jupiters Hotel & Casino, as well as spending almost three years in London working for the Department of Health. Sam is a passionate third generation Gold Coaster who has an in-depth knowledge of the city’s meeting venues and services.

McEnroe joins the team with over eight years’ experience in the Gold Coast business events industry. Her most recent role was Business Development Manager representing RACV Royal Pines and Noosa Resort.

McEnroe has broad experience in all aspects of meetings and conferences, having worked across function management and operational roles before making the move into business development.

She will be responsible for securing business events within Victoria as well as international opportunities in Indonesia and Malaysia. McEnroe has travelled extensively throughout these regions and is looking forward to working within these diverse market segments.
