Gold Coast’s largest kids and parenting event is coming
The Plans for the Gold Coast’s largest kids and parenting event have been revealed.
Unified Events is delivering Gold Coast’s largest family event, coming to town in April 2017, filled with ideas to keep new parents and kids – from toddlers to tweens – happy, active and entertained throughout the year.
Local female entrepreneur Kiara Sullivan is on a mission to banish the ‘b’ word from Gold Coast kids’ vocabularies.
For parents, grandparents and carers struggling to keep boredom at bay these school holidays, this will be music to frazzled ears.
“Everyone knows kids get bored easily – yes, even on the Gold Coast – so I wanted to bring together anything and everything for new parents and families with children 0 – 12, where adults can do their research and the kids are entertained,” said event organiser Mrs Sullivan.
Over three days from 28-30 April, the Gold Coast Kids Expo will showcase hundreds of exciting products and services for new parents, kids and families, with a strong focus on promoting a fun and healthy lifestyle.
“The Gold Coast is a mecca for families – but navigating the wealth of information online can be hard and misleading at times so I think new parents in particular will love having so much quality information and products in the one place,” Mrs Sullivan said.
The event will feature a performance stage for the kids, free workshop areas and over 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest in ideas and inspiration, creativity and crafts, family wellness, nutrition, growth and education, baby and kids fashion, toys and games, clubs and sport, photography and homewares, travel and leisure, and plenty of food and drink options to keep everyone happy.
Some big drawcards already announced include a massive Brick Builders (Lego) area and wellbeing workshops from the Happiness Mission – aka the bubbly duo from My Kitchen Rules, Carly and Tresne – aimed at helping children and adults with goal setting, gratitude and healthy eating.
The Gold Coast is home to more than 100,000 kids under the age of 14 (ABS 2011) and after years of putting together some of Australia’s major expos, Mrs Sullivan knew there was a gap in the market:
“This is the first expo on this scale that has been designed for both new parents and the whole family in mind. And when you think that almost 1 in 5 Gold Coasters are under the age of 14 – we really need to explore ways to keep new parents informed, and families with kids of all ages engaged in healthy activities,” she said.
Mrs Sullivan launched ‘Unified Events’ in 2015 to focus on bringing together the best on offer for Gold Coast families and provide opportunities and support for local businesses. As the team grew, so did the services on offer. In addition to running the Kids Expo, Unified Events offers coordination services for parties, functions and major events, wedding planning on request as well as Sales and Marketing services to clients nationwide.
For this 27-year-old entrepreneur, organising a baby and kids’ expo is the ultimate ‘letter to my future self’.
Between juggling a full-time career as an events manager and marketing consultant, she struggles with serious endometriosis – a medical condition that can lead to infertility.
“Exhibitors are often surprised to learn that I don’t have kids myself. The treatment options have come a long way and I’m sure I’ll be lucky in the next few years. In the meantime, seeing everything at the Gold Coast Kids Expo will be the perfect way to get prepared.”
Join in the mission to banish the ‘b’ word from Gold Coast kids’ vocabularies!
Parents are encouraged to plan ahead so they can enjoy the Gold Coast Kids expo to its fullest.
