Marriott International Hotels soar to 1000 hotels in APAC

The Marriott International Hotel group has opened its 1000th hotel in the Asia Pacific region, highlighting the success of the business as well as its ongoing confidence in the long term success of the region.
The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne opened its doors on 23 March and was the brand’s entry into the city.
The new hotel features a contemporary aesthetic, panoramic views of the city and skyline as well as the impeccable service that has become synonymous with the Marriot name.
“Being able to celebrate the opening of Marriott’s 1000th hotel in Asia Pacific is a testament to our vision for growth in the years to come in the region,” president, Greater China, Marriott International, Yibing Mao, said.
“Greater China represents over half of the portfolio in terms of rooms in Asia Pacific and remains a strategic and vibrant market with tremendous growth potential. Together with the other markets in the region, the opportunities are exciting, and we look forward to building on this noteworthy milestone.”
Marriott International has set a high bar in 2023 and anticipates to continue on its dominant path, adding roughly two hotels a week in Asia Pacific in 2023.
One of the biggest portfolios for growth is Marriotts premium international brand, ‘One Pronounced Premium Presence’ that encompasses Marriott Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, The Autograph Collection and more, where they expect over 30 additions in the APAC region in 2023.
“The opening of Marriott International’s 1000th hotel in Asia Pacific is a true milestone, underscoring our confidence in the overall travel outlook, our ability to take hospitality to new heights with our associates and owners, and the power of Marriott Bonvoy in 2023 and beyond,” president, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China) Marriott International, Rajeev Menon, said.
50 per cent of the new openings are expected to be in the Marriott Select Service segment of the business, while Fairfield by Marriott expects 19 new hotels in the APAC region.
