“More on every level”: Rydges Melbourne reopens following in-depth transformation
By admin

Rydges Melbourne officially reopened on Wednesday, unveiling an incredible transformation with a refreshingly local approach to the hotel experience in one of Australia’s largest cities.

Located in the heart of the city’s vibrant theatre district and moments from exclusive Collins Street boutiques, major sporting precincts and the Bourke Street Mall, Rydges Melbourne has re-opened following an extensive renovation of the property.

The new Rydges flagship property caters to the needs of every traveller, featuring:

  • 370 completely transformed rooms across 3 accommodation styles – 310 King Standard Rooms, 35 Suites and 25 Apartments featuring a kitchenette, laundry, and separate lounge/dining spaces.
  • Every room is equipped with the renowned Rydges DreamBeds, ensuring guests have all the essentials for a perfect night’s sleep.
  • State of the art tech provides seamless and connected experiences throughout the property. Removing the barrier of a reception desk, guests are able to check-in online from their mobile device or self-service kiosks, and are greeted by the friendly hotel team. In-room TVs offer casting, room service and more.
  • The property boasts one of Melbourne’s largest conference and event offerings, including 11 newly designed meeting areas, spanning an expansive 1500 sqm across 2 levels. The largest space, previously the iconic Bobby McGee’s and now a stunning ballroom, showcases its magnificence through soaring seven-metre-high ceilings as well as housing an incredible 4x7m HD LED screen. Level two is home to the new Rooftop Terrace, providing guests with expansive outdoor space and sweeping panoramic views of iconic landmarks such as Her Majesty’s Theatre and ChinaTown.
  • The property now offers a modern and interactive fitness studio with the latest in fitness technology, allowing guests to effortlessly maintain their workout routines throughout their stay.
  • Bossley Bar & Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the hotel, takes inspiration from the hotel’s prime location in Melbourne’s vibrant theatre district. Its menu is thoughtfully crafted to showcase locally sourced ingredients, offering a culinary journey that embraces the vibrant and diverse flavours of Victoria.

“Rydges Melbourne has been meticulously transformed to be a flagship for the brand,” group GM, Troy Cuthbertson, said.

“The Rydges brand is uniquely Australian owned and operated which is reflected in the design. From the warm and welcoming styled rooms, suites and new apartments experience that rival the best views in Melbourne, to the state-of-the-art technology and world-class facilities and events spaces, we have created a property that features more on every level.

‘Guests feedback has already been extremely positive and the interest in our new Conference and Event spaces is strong. We are truly excited to bring this experience to the Australian market.”

The Rydges group brand positioning is ‘refreshingly local’ and to best interpret this, the EVT design team in collaboration with interior designers Luchetti Krelle focussed on elements that truly reflect the brand philosophy. They have produced interiors that have been influenced by natural Australian muted tones of eucalyptus green and rusty ochre.

Featuring rounded edges and tactile textures, the property has an abundance of natural light, soft tones and timber, along with theatrical ceilings. Throughout the hotel an impressive collection of art curated by interior stylist Janet Graham, celebrates the unique styles of various local artists.

Spotlighting the group’s commitment to supporting local Victorian businesses, Rydges Melbourne has partnered with local food and beverage suppliers from regions such as Diamond Valley, Port Phillip Bay, Lockwood, the Yarra Valley and Gippsland.
