The Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) Aspire Program concluded for the year with the Aspire Awards Ceremony, held this morning at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. With over fifty-five applications and only eleven awards available there was incredibly strong competition amongst all applicants wanting to secure the opportunity to receive professional development funding to attend and attract conferences to Western Australia.

Mr Peter Carr, the winner of the City of Perth Convention Scholarship is a Lecturer at The University of Western Australia. Peter’s research interest surrounds the insertion of a needle and catheter into patient’s veins called a peripheral intravenous cannula (PIVC), which is performed to allow patients to receive intravenous therapy. Peter will use the award to attend the 4th World Congress on Vascular Access (WoCoVA) 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal to meet delegates and promote the 2nd Australian Vascular Access Society scientific meeting and World Congress on Vascular Access “Special Event” taking place in Perth next year, of which he will be the scientific convenor.

Other winners include: Ms Tanya Langford (Peel Youth Services) winner of the City of Mandurah Convention Scholarship, Mr Matthew Wittorff (Senses Australia) winner of Giving West Aspire Conference Scholarship, Associate Professor Anthony Kicic (Telethon Kids Institute) winner of the Telethon Kids Institute Aspire Conference Award, Associate Professor Ute Mueller and Professor Pere Masqué (Edith Cowan University), Associate Professor David Miller (Murdoch University), Associate Professor Ajmal Mian (The University of Western Australia), Dr Joan Squelch (The University of Notre Dame Australia) and Associate Professor Daniel Gucciardi and Dr Kylie Coulson (Curtin University)

Starwood sales organisation, Sydney expands with two new recruits

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) is pleased to announce the expansion of the Starwood Sales Organisation with two appointments to the Sydney office.

Carolin Thievessen joins as Account Director and will be responsible for maintaining, developing and managing a portfolio of global accounts in the meetings and incentives space.

As Account Director for the Global Leisure and Luxury Sales team, Bridget Kroll will be representing Starwood’s luxury portfolio, including St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, W Hotels and The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, from the Australian and New Zealand point of sale.

 

Senator The Hon. Richard Colbeck to join members at the EEAA 2016 Leaders Forum Finale

EEAA is pleased to announce that the Hon. Richard Colbeck, Minister for Tourism and International Education, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment, will be joining Members at the EEAA Leaders Forum Dinner, to be held on 9 June at Member Venue – Aerial

Minister Colbeck joins NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Investment, Major Events and Tourism, Jonathan O’Dea, as one of two Government officials joining the EEAA 2016 Leaders Forum.

EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said the high-level participation from State and Federal parliamentarians for this year’s event was very positive and underscored the growing recognition of the importance of the exhibition and event sector to national and state economic priorities.

“It’s pleasing to have this level of Government representation for our event. Both Minister Colbeck’s and Mr O’Dea’s presence sends a clear message that exhibitions and events matter.” she said.
