Quay named Restaurant of Year once again
Sydney’s Quay has been named Australia’s Restaurant of the Year for the second year running, with Blond Catering winning Caterer of the Year.
The Fink Group establishment once again scooped the top award at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Australia HostPlus National Awards for Excellence, held in Brisbane on Monday night.
The largest consumer-led awards in Australia, the event is designed to recognise hospitality operators that demonstrate outstanding service, culinary excellence and value for money.
R&CA chief executive John Hart said the annual event recognises the “best in our industry”.
“Special congratulations must go to the team at Quay who have won Restaurant of the Year two consecutive years in a row. It is a testament to their hard work in delivering exceptional dining experiences year after year,” he said.
“It is quite fitting Quay is awarded this accolade in Brisbane, which will become the home of a flagship Fink Group restaurant in 2016. The Brisbane dining scene will be richer with the addition of this restaurateur’s passion and skill.”
Minister for tourism Richard Colbeck also attended the awards.
“All of the winners and finalists represent a key part of Australia’s high quality tourism offering and should be congratulated for their commitment to providing a culinary experience that attracts people from around Australia and the world,” he said.
“The hospitality sector makes an important contribution in Australia and visitors consumed $113 billion worth of goods and services in Australia in 2013-14.”
