Sydney hotel targets private functions with laneway venue

Sydney’s newest international hotel, the Tank Stream Hotel, is launching a new function space overlooking one of Sydney’s historic laneways.

The atmospheric Tank Stream Terrace is accessible from the Curtin Place laneway, opposite Australia Square. The laneway is named after former Australian Prime Minister, John Curtin, and the Tank Stream – Sydney’s original life source – runs under the laneway.

Designed for informal cocktail and networking events, the Tank Stream Terrace can host up to 30 with a range of food and beverage menus supplied by the hotel’s Le Petit Flot restaurant (pictured above).

The venue, which features retractable ceiling to floor windows that can be fully opened in warmer weather, is available for small functions either during the day or in the evening and is expected to be particularly popular for pre-Christmas corporate functions.

The new Tank Stream Terrace venue complements the Tank Stream’s private dining function space adjacent to Le Petit Flot restaurant on the first floor of the hotel.

The private dining room offers an intimate, atmospheric space bathed in natural light that can seat 24 in a boardroom format, 32 in banquet style and up to 40 for cocktails. Full A/V facilities can be arranged for launches and bespoke corporate events.

The function room is also popular for small wedding and special occasion receptions, with the Tank Stream’s function team able to decorate and design the space to suit a wide range of events.

Catering for the private dining room is supplied by the chefs at Le Petit Flot, with the menu designed by Takashi Kimura, the iconic chef behind Cilantro, Malaysia’s most renowned restaurant and function venue.

The menu has been designed with an emphasis on contemporary ‘French meets Asian’ share plates using prime local ingredients and light, healthy cooking techniques.

The Tank Stream Hotel boasts Sydney’s most convenient location, situated in the heart of the CBD within a short walk of Wynyard Station, Circular Quay, Martin Place, Macquarie Street and via underground walkway to Barangaroo.

A perfect base for short and longer stays in Sydney, the 280 room 4.5 star Tank Stream Hotel is surrounded by the city’s major business houses and government offices as well as many of the city’s most celebrated restaurants, theatres, entertainment venues and retail centres.

The hotel offers an ‘all inclusive’ rate concept providing guests with complimentary non-alcoholic mini bar, free in-room wifi, movies, Nespresso coffee and T2 teas. The hotel can also arrange discounted access to nearby fitness centres and parking.

The Tank Stream Hotel is part of the international St Giles Premier Hotel collection, with the Sydney hotel joining St Giles’ hotels in cities such as London, New York, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
