The Big Cheese : Brad Mercer, General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane

This week the Big Cheese is on Brad Mercer, General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane, as he tells us the challenges in the Brisbane market and who he would have to dinner.

The great thing about my job is…Every day is different. Keeps it exciting

The challenge for industry is…Downtrend in the Brisbane market place impacting on hotels and creating an underpriced competitive environment

My greatest achievement is… Instilling integral value, moral fibre and ethics into my two sons as they develop into young men.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be…Brisbane winning more city wide events to create compression and fill the hotels further stimulating the economy in all sectors.

I try to relax by…Playing golf or training

I don’t understand why… Queensland doesn’t have daylight savings

My favourite venue is… SAZERAC rooftop lounge bar at Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane

I’ve always wanted to travel to…Nepal/Tibet – Mt Everest Base Camp

I am scared to death of…Nothing

I can’t live without…Food

I really wish I had… I don’t wish for things, I’m blessed with what I have

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be…Richard Branson, Warren Buffet, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be ….Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough
