The Big Cheese with Danny Eather

The Big Cheese with Danny Eather

We chat to the Hunter Valley specialist for the Altogether Perfect MICE campaign.

The great thing about my job is…

Besides having 140 wineries/cellar doors outside my office door and 60+ eateries, it would have to be working with a dynamic group of industry professionals and colleagues that all share the same passion for our ‘Altogether Perfect’ destinations of the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and Port Stephens.

The challenge for industry is…

For regional destinations remaining competitive and relevant to meeting and event organisers

My greatest achievement is…

To date… being awarded 2015 Citizen of the Year in my home town of Singleton, this past Australia Day.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be…

The eagerly awaited New South Wales regional conferencing strategy.

I try to relax by…

Spending time with my friends and family is always a winner but surprisingly volunteering my time for my chosen charity, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. Something about knowing I am making a difference is relaxing.

I don’t understand why…

People don’t like brussel sprouts – they are just a little cabbage…

My favourite venue is…

A true gentleman never tells that…..

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

The Outback…

I am scared to death of…

Snakes.

I can’t live without…

Family.

I really wish I had…

A blank cheque book on some days –  it would just make the world of difference.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be…

My Altogether Perfect partners in crime; Rebecca Morley, Georgia Lazzari and Cassie Mackay. As for the fourth, anyone that bought a bag of Twisties (preferrably Chicken flavour)…

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be ….

Don’t be afraid to have passion for an industry that may not seem sexy like others and remember to back yourself.
