The Big Cheese With Heritage & CityLife Hotels’ Dylan Rushbrook

The Big Cheese With Heritage & CityLife Hotels’ Dylan Rushbrook

In this week’s Big Cheese we get down to the nitty gritty with Dylan Rushbrook, General Manager Sales & Marketing, of Heritage & CityLife Hotels.

The great thing about my job is… The diversity, no two days are the same and the market continually evolves

The challenge for industry is… Keeping ahead of the wave and picking what’s coming next

My greatest achievement is… Winning the inaugural NZ Young TEC Excellence Award and undertaking a short internship with Tourism NZ in the LA Office.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… The opening of Heritage Collection, Lake Resort Cromwell for us – watch this space.

I try to relax by… Undertaking some DIY around the house, my wife thinks that I’m crazy, but appreciates the results!

I don’t understand why… NZ and Australia don’t have a quicker processing at our borders and it be more like inter-state travel

My favourite venue is… ICON at Heritage Queenstown, NZ – amazing alpine scenery

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Nepal

I am scared to death of… Spiders – you Australians can keep them over there!

I can’t live without… My phone, as sad as that is!

I really wish I had… Bought property in Auckland 10 years ago

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs, Morgan Freeman & Donald Trump – sit back and watch ‘The Don’ get schooled.

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be …. Be open to opportunity and follow your instincts.
