Fraser Suites Perth’s director of sales and marketing Kelly takes some time to talk INXS, the importance of understanding the market and the rapid growth of weddings.

The great thing about my job is… Introducing guests, corporate clients and industry members to the Fraser Suites brand for the first time.

Understanding the market and putting strategies in place, plus supporting and developing staff

The challenge for industry is… It’s finding, hiring, training and retaining staff which is why support and development is so important.

Rate.

Unique, superior yet competitive offering for the market

My greatest achievement is… It would definitely be seeing growth from three offices to eight and the team increase from three sales staff to seven. Also running large scale events of up to 5000 pax, the highlight being INXS requesting I run an event.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… AOG 2016 and at Fraser Suites Perth, it will be the rapid growth in weddings and Pete Evans events at Heirloom.

I try to relax by… Three things: beach, BBQ and friends.

Also, keeping an eye on work in the evening and weekends to not be overloaded during business hours when staff and clients require priority assistance…

I don’t understand why… People would choose to sit in peak hour traffic when you can catch the train, it is so quick and convenient.

My favourite venue is… Kings Park State Reception Centre.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Oia Greece!!!!!! Any islands in Greece really.

I am scared to death of…  My teenage daughter hahahaha! Or snakes.

I can’t live without… My work phone, emails and coffee!

I really wish I had… I don’t really wish for much – I’m quite content but if I had to choose I would say a new 4wD.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… My closest friends.

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be… Cross department development, offer your help, get a mentor, have an open door policy, work experience, be willing to adapt.
