Top ten outdoor dining spots in NSW

With just a few days left of summer, now is a great time to get out and experience some al fresco dining.

NSW has a location to appeal to every lover of fine food, whether its spectacular beachfronts, terraced vineyards or quaint Southern Highland towns.

Here’s a selection of top outdoor dining spots compiled by Destination NSW.

CAFE ALFRESCO, BROKEN HILL

This fully licensed cafe offers a great outback dining experience with a casual atmosphere and pasta, pancakes, gourmet pizzas, steak and seafood on the menu.

HUGOS MANLY

A favourite for cocktails and contemporary Italian cuisine positioned on Manly wharf at one of Sydney’s top waterfront locations. Hugos was named Best Pizza in NSW at the Good Food & Wine Show in 2009.

BANNISTERS BY THE SEA

Poised on a headland at Mollymook on the NSW south coast, Rick Stein at Bannisters couples Mediterranean seafood cuisine with an inspired touch of Asian cooking and views overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

COOGEE PAVILION ROOFTOP

The Coogee pavilion is well known for its post-beach snacks, sunset cocktails and unrivalled view of the Coogee shoreline. The new rooftop features four indoor and outdoor bars and a mouthwatering Mediterranean menu.

THE BOATHOUSE PALM BEACH AND BALMORAL

Waterfront venues The Boathouse Palm Beach and The Boathouse Balmoral, are great spots to enjoy a coffee and a catch up with friends. Go there for the fresh flowers, great coffee and delicious food options.

BURRAWANG VILLAGE HOTEL

Situated in the NSW Southern Highlands between the Wingecarribee and the Fitzroy reservoirs, and overlooking the magnificent rolling hills, the Burrawang Village Hotel near Bowral is famous for its beautiful gardens. The perfect place for a summer lunch.

LATITUDE 30, COFFS HARBOUR

Enjoy the amazing views at Latitude 30 while savouring the a constantly changing menu of fresh seafood straight from the local fishing boats. The dishes change every two months but right now look out for the seafood mezze with king prawns, smoked salmon, oysters and Morton Bay bugs.

FLANAGANS IN THIRROUL

Located on the promenade in the historic Thirroul Beach Kiosk Building, Flanagans in Thirroul, offers a casual dining experience with a creative menu. Named one of the top three restaurants in the Illawarra for the second year running in the latest Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide.

PELICAN PAVILION, COLLAROY BEACH

A favourite with the locals (always a good sign) the Pelican Pavilion is located just a step up from Collaroy Beach. The menu is focused on healthy eating, including homemade granolas and muesli.

BISTRO MOLINES, HUNTER VALLEY

Bistro Molines in the NSW Hunter Valley offers fine food dining and French cuisine in the picturesque surrounds of Tallavera Grove Vineyard, overlooking a valley of terraced vineyards and grazing cattle. Owned by Robert and Sally Molines, who have been Hunter Valley locals since 1973.
