The Big Cheese with Tamas Hanyi, Regional Sales Manager Asia Pacific, airberlin

Tamas Hanyi talks to us about the challenges for the industry, working across four continents and creative, out-of-the-box events.

The great thing about my job is… travelling and meeting interesting people all over the world.

The challenge for industry is… delivering a travel experience which consistently exceeds customer expectations. This is critical for maintaining customer loyalty in a competitive industry.

My greatest achievement is… to have lived and worked across four continents over the last 18 years.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… creative, out-of-the-box events.

I try to relax by… sitting down with a quality flat white without my BlackBerry.

I don’t understand why… Australians don’t seem to be scared of snakes, crocodiles and spiders.

My favourite venue is… Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Moscow from Beijing on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

I am scared to death of… running out of oxygen.

I can’t live without… my friends and family.

I really wish I had… learnt more languages when I was young.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Diego Maradona, Mata Hari, Frank Abagnale and Michael Jackson.

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be …. to spend a few years living overseas.
