Flight Centre branches out corporate in Europe

Australia’s Flight Centre Travel Group has expanded to Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Germany through a deal to acquire corporate businesses owned by European online travel agency eDreams ODIGEO.

Strengthening its position in the European market, particularly in the growing corporate travel space, the agreement to purchase the corporate businesses was an all-cash deal that would be completed by year’s end.

Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said corporate travel is one of the six key growth sectors for the medium to long term.

It is reported that while these new additions to the network are relatively small, they are profitable and give Flight Centre a company-owned presence in five key corporate travel markets within Europe, along with a platform for further corporate travel expansion.

This is the latest in a chain of acquisitions for the Flight Centre Group in recent months.

Last month, Flight Centre took a 49 percent stake in Gold Coast travel business, Ignite Travel Group, deepening its luxury packaged holiday offering.
