BCEC brings big wins to Brisbane

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has begun the new financial year strong, securing 25 new conferences for Brisbane, which will deliver an additional 35,620 room nights to city hotels.

This follows an impressive end of financial year performance from BCEC, securing $156 million worth of new conferences during the previous 12 month period for the scientific and research sectors.

Some of the world’s leading experts in science, research, medical, allied health and energy sectors will head to Brisbane as a result of the 135-strong line-up of conference wins by BCEC and its convention partners over the past 14 months.

BCEC is supported by convention partners, Tourism Events Queensland and Brisbane Marketing, and continues to attract international business events to the area, including the International Federation on Ageing’s Global Conference in 2016, which will see 1000 of the world’s foremost experts descend on Brisbane to discuss significant global issues.

BCEC general manager Bob O’Keeffe acknowledged there was increased interest in the centre and Brisbane because of the G20 Summit and he expected the momentum to continue to build.

“This is a huge opportunity for Brisbane and the Centre and we intend to capitalise to the fullest extent on the opportunity converting that into business well into the future,” O’Keeffe said.
