The Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) has shaken up its management line-up as it reshapes its strategic business plan.

Following a series of changes, the MCVB marketing and communications department will now operate under a new title; Commercial Partnerships.

The business development and convention sales department has also been reshuffled with the appointment of a new manager and dedicated research team.

“These structural changes are in line with achieving our organisational objectives and will play a major role in contributing to MCVB’s success moving forward,” MCVB chief executive Karen Bolinger said.

With the changes taking effect on July 1, Edwina San assumed the role of MCVB commercial partnerships general manager.

Formerly director of international incentives, San will head the new department, continuing her six year tenure with MCVB.

Jon Malpas has also been appointed as partnership and events associate director. Previously MCVB senior manager events and marketing services, he will report directly to San in the new role.

In other announcements, Julia Swanson has been promoted to general manager business development and bidding, and communication manager Rebecca Elliott will take on an expanded role in marketing management.
