The Sydney Royal Easter Show is set to attract more than 900,000 visitors this year, with almost 20% of visitors travelling from outside of Sydney. Thousands of international visitors are also expected to attend the 13-day program, which kicks off on March 21.

The International Special Events Society (ISES) is inviting events professionals to join its first social event of 2013 at one of Melbourne’s newest venues, Captain Baxter. To be held on March 27 from 6.30pm, attendees can network with industry professionals over drinks and nibbles. Tickets cost $68 for members and $98 for non-members.

Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong is offering corporate banquet packages from THB 888 (A$29). Bookings valued more than THB 100,000 (A$3271) will also receive a free live celebrity chef station until April 30.

The Halkin by COMO has appointed Simon Wakefield as general manager. Wakefield re-joins the property after almost a decade hiatus, having worked at COMO’s Belgravia hotel since 2004.
