The great thing about my job is… I’m passionate about PR and social media and I love being able to use this to help clients achieve their business goals.

The challenge for industry is… To learn how to harness social media effectively to increase attendance at events and engage attendees both online and offline. The benefits of achieving this can help increase the profile of an event or event organiser as well as improve their growth.

My greatest achievement is… Starting my own business, CP Communications, and growing it into one of Australia’s leading PR and social media agencies. It’s been 12 years of hard work but well worth it!

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… The digital revolution and learning how online presence can compliment offline activities. As the event industry heavily relies on physical in-person communication at events, event organisers need to adapt their business model to the shift towards digital communication. This may involve creating an online community around an event to attract attendees but also continue conversations online before and after the event.

I try to relax by… I’m a fibre sculpture artist and I create artwork using only natural elements. Spending time weaving a piece of artwork is quite relaxing. I also love yoga.

I don’t understand why… So many businesses and CEOs haven’t embraced social media yet. The business benefits of social media are enormous including the ability to build the CEOs profile, increase the business’ reputation, attract new customers and many more. Social media and digital is where business is heading and the MICE industry needs to start using social media and understanding it now to avoid getting left behind.

Currently the album playing on my iPod is… I listen to classical music at work because it helps to create a relaxed work environment.

My favourite venue is… Cafe Sydney. Lovely food, great view, yummy cocktails.

I am scared to death of… It used to be spiders, but I over came my fear of them.

I can’t live without… My iPad. I use it for presentations, sitting on the couch surfing the internet while watching TV, uploading photos to Instagram, watching videos, social media and a million other things.

Blackberry or iPhone… I use my iPhone for everything including work, personal and everything in between.

I really wish I had…More time to concentrate on my personal passions and to create a better work life balance for myself.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese opposition leader, Oprah, Doctor Chris Brown, the Bondi Vet and Peter Cundall, the gardener.
