The renowned Alice Stampede mega-familiarisation event will be held in Alice Springs from 22-25 September.

Nineteen qualified conference and event planners will get the opportunity to view the world-class facilities, venues and accommodation on offer in The Alice, as well as experience a world-first spectacular in this quintessential outback town.

A highlight of the 2016 event will be viewing the inaugural Parrtjima – a Festival in Light which will be staged in Alice Springs from 23 September – 2 October 2016. It is the first authentic Indigenous light festival of its kind ever held anywhere in the world and will feature Australia’s biggest-ever light show installation, with more than 2.5 kilometres of the expansive MacDonnell Ranges to be lit up. For the participating planners, this event will showcase how the NT’s extensive calendar of special events can be integrated into a Business Event, often with a ‘uniquely NT’ cultural or activity focus.

Now in its fifth year, Alice Stampede is a joint initiative of the Alice Springs Convention Centre and the Northern Territory Convention Bureau (NTCB), and is supported by a wide range of Alice Springs suppliers.

The program is designed to reveal the quirky, cultural and business aspects of Alice Springs, whilst showcasing a broad range of activities which will include hot-air ballooning over the desert, taking a camel-riding trek and participating in dot-painting classes.  They will experience the region’s natural wonders such as Simpson’s Gap, historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station and iconic organisations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Interesting off-site dinner venues will include The Quarry, at the foot of the MacDonnell Ranges and the fascinating Nocturnal House at Alice Springs Desert Park.

Business sessions held during Stampede will highlight the depth of extraordinary local speakers, Alice expertise and industry strengths which often provide appealing linkages to attract conferences to the region.
