Australian Event Awards to proceed in 2020

Whether delivered in person or online, the Australian Event Awards & Symposium is guaranteed to go ahead in 2020.

After “extensive” consultation with judges, partners, past entrants and wider members of the events industry, the organisers of the Australian Event Awards have decided to hold the 2020 event in October.

However, if restraints forbid it, the awards will be delivered online.

“No matter the circumstances, we are absolutely certain that winners will be announced and trophies will be given away,” the organisers said in a statement.

Entries will open on 29 April to all events and achievements that have taken place between 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020, including events and achievements forced to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions.

And, for the first time, events delivered online will be eligible to enter the Event Awards.

Following industry feedback, the organisers of the event have made multiple changes to the awards in 2020, including bringing the awards to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, using new lead judges, and reintroducing the Australian Event of the Year category.

“We have created a guided entry form to help you best address the things that the judges want to see in your entry, simplified the entry process and reduced entry costs for businesses across the industry,” the organisers said.

“We have also improved the judging process by appointing leading experts in public events, corporate events, event services, and event management to lead the judges through the judging process and review the finalists.

“These revisions will make the Event Awards easier than ever to enter, but you have to put your best foot forward – it’s still hard to win.”

Planning of the Australian Event Symposium 2020 is currently underway, with the event due to be staged on 20 to 21 October at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide.

If it is still subject to COVID-19 restrictions, the program will be delivered online, with further information on the symposium set to be released in the coming weeks.
