Cricket World Cup brings thousands to Vic

Major sporting events continue to entice thousands of international guests to visit Melbourne.

More than 678,500 visitors landed at Melbourne Airport in April, something CEO Chris Woodruff linked to the ICC Cricket World Cup.

“Direct flights and major sporting events including the ICC Cricket World Cup, continued to boost international growth from all regions, particularly Japan, China, India and Sri Lanka,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

And despite a subdued domestic market, he said domestic visitors to the airport also grew in April.
