New dating app shows Australia’s hospitality industry some love

A new app claims it is helping Australia’s hospitality industry by curating date ideas for single people at venues across the country.

WeDate promotes itself as “the only online dating platform which focusses on getting people off their phone faster and straight to the date location”, and currently boasts over 16,000 active users.

Users can browse, design and post a date from WeDate’s curated list of cafés, bars, restaurants, experiences and events, and other users can express interest in going on their dates.

The host of the date chooses who they want to go on their date with (and also who pays for the date), and users can browse other available dates in their area or even in other cities they may be visiting.

Founded by business partners Dave Holt and Cos Luccitti, WeDate launched in Sydney in May this year, before expanding to Brisbane and the Gold Coast later in 2019.

Holt and Luccitti also plan to expand the app nationally in the next 12 months.
