GCCEC welcomes new Executive Manager – Property Operations

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has welcomed Terry Murphy to the position of Executive Manager of Property Operations. Murphy brings 20 years’ experience in similar roles having worked across major hotel and resort properties on the Gold Coast, most recently at the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel. Murphy is a licensed Electrical Fitter Mechanic and an ecotourism advocate who brings a wealth of knowledge obtained by experience in driving numerous sustainability programs across several brands, and as pre-opening Engineering Manager for Couran Cove Island Resort.

Jason Roberson appointed head chef – ivy functions

Merivale has announced the appointment of Jason Roberson as Head Chef – ivy Functions.

Jason joins Merivale from The Grounds of Alexandria where he held the position of Head Chef since October 2014. As Head Chef, Jason led all food operations for the property, including catering and events.

With an impressive CV spanning a number of leading hospitality venues including London’s Michelin-starred The Ivy, Four in Hand, QT Hotel Canberra and Sydney, The Winery, Gazebo Wine Garden, Bungalow 8 and Wildfire, Jason has excelled in finessing the intricacies of diverse cuisines and venue operations on multiple levels.

Richard Purdue, Group Executive Chef – Events, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jason to ivy’s culinary team. With his vast experience across many kitchens and cuisines, coupled with an infectious passion, we look forward to the growth of our ivy Functions team under Jason’s leadership”.
