Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas nabs MICE market

The $40 million dollar revitalisation of Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort is attracting attention within the meetings and conference (MICE) market.

The iconic resort is undergoing a full renovation of its guestrooms and facilities, which is due to be completed by June, 2016.

MICE bookings have shown exceptional growth for the next two years, with a pipeline of upcoming major conferences from a diverse range of industry sectors including telecommunications, finance and medical.

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas director of sales and marketing, Nathan Gadd, said “feedback has been incredibly positive from our MICE customers and interest is strong from the domestic market, in particular Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as our neighbours in New Zealand. They are excited about the new and upgraded facilities and the creative ways we can host large scale events down to small team building incentives.”

Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort offers versatile spaces for over 1,000 delegates with flexible indoor and outdoor conference or event spaces including; Mirage Island, Main Beach, Poolside Deck and The Glade Pavilion – North Queensland’s largest resort conference facility.

The key upgrades include newly transformed contemporary guest rooms, refurbished function facilities including ballroom, breakout rooms and pre-function area and enhanced poolside areas with more useable outdoor spaces for stand-up receptions and seated dinners, new poolside deck space designed to seat 120 people with louvered roof, new bridge linking the fully refurbished ‘Mirage Island’ to other poolside areas allowing better flow around the poolside spaces, creation of a new Lobby Café ideally suited for business meetings and upgrades to Feast Restaurant – Sheraton’s signature restaurant with interactive buffets incorporating live cooking stations.
