Starwood brings luxe brand to Bollywood

Starwood Hotels & Resorts are set to open its first St Regis property in India later this year.

The St Regis Mumbai will occupy the building currently home to the Palladium Hotel in the city’s Lower Parel neighbourhood and is slated for a 3Q opening after an “extensive” rebrand according to the group.

The 38-storey hotel will contain 38 guestrooms and 60 suites and over 5,200 sq meters of meeting and event spaces including a 4,200 sq meter ballroom, BI reports.

The hotel will operate an all-day dining restaurant plus four other “specialty” restaurants, a club lounge, three bars, a swimming pool and a fitness centre.

“Starwood is maintaining strong growth momentum in the region and the arrival of St Regis in Mumbai reinforces our commitment to growing our luxury portfolio in this important market,” St Regis global brand leader, Jim Petrus, said.

St Regis Mumbai is owned by Pallazzio Hotels & Leisure. Starwood has 37 hotels in the pipeline in India, adding to its current 43 properties in the country.

“This signing underscores our belief in the power of Starwood,” Pallazzio Hotels & Leisure executive director, Amit Bhosale, said.

“Starwood’s global reach and its powerful loyalty program will further strengthen our outreach to affluent travellers and elevate India’s luxury hospitality landscape.”
