Sunshine Coast throws fifth Soiree

Sunshine Coast throws fifth Soiree

Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) joined forces with 19 of the region’s business events operators to showcase its conference and incentive offering to around 40 Brisbane planners.

Now in its fifth year, the annual “Sunshine Soiree” acted as a forum for local operators to meet with event planners from Brisbane-based corporations including Boeing Defence Australia, Rio Tinto, Minter Ellison, Suncorp and Lendlease.

Held at Gerard’s Bistro and themed ‘Colouring your event’, the event played on the latest adult mindfulness colouring craze. BESC supplied a colouring book with a scene of Coolum, illustrated by local Eumundi artist, Leroy Sams, and there was a real-life ‘colouring in’ demonstration by body artist, Nina Neher of the Australian Body Art Festival. Music was supplied by local musician, Carl Wockner from his aptly named, ‘Crayon Days’ album.

Sunshine Coast Destination chief executive Simon Ambrose highlighted the “colourful” meeting and incentive options on offer in the region, within easy reach of its own airport as well as Brisbane Airport just an hour down the road.

“It means that we can offer a very accessible destination that is perfect for delegates to wind down, refresh, and get motivated before returning to their busy city lifestyles,” he said.

“The Sunshine Coast has a rich range of venues, including major conference centres and hotels, attractions such as Australia Zoo and Aussie World, and boutique wellness retreats, ideally suited to conference and event organisers who want something special.”

“We are finding more than ever that conference groups are excited by the region’s unique event and incentive capabilities, which can be incorporated pre, post or part of a conference program,” manager of Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) Tiffany Bower said.

“Water sports are an obvious attraction, but we can also offer more specific activities like cooking classes, yoga and health programs, trekking and other adventure itineraries. There’s something for everyone.”
