The Appointment Group’s global event director takes some time to talk  staying on top of trends, leaving a legacy and to ponder a childhood conundrum.

The great thing about my job is… This is not original I know, but, there is never a typical day in events, which is something I absolutely love. It’s always full of creativity, challenges and surprises.

The challenge for industry is… With every market, whether it is here in Australia, the UK or US, the challenge for the industry is to stay informed about emerging global trends and adopt the latest technological innovations.

My greatest achievement is… Doing a job I thoroughly enjoy and having the opportunity to travel.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… Seeing how technology and social media initiatives will evolve to allow the content of an event leave a lasting legacy.

I try to relax by… The simple pleasures of a home cooked meal & glass of wine!

I don’t understand why… Alice left Wonderland.

My favourite venue is… Top of the Standard at The Standard Highline in New York – it’s a great venue for an uber chic cocktail reception with stunning skyline views and a magnificent circular feature bar.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Golden Triangle in India – it looks like a great incentive destination.

I am scared to death of… Scared to death is quite dramatic, to work in this industry you have to be pretty resilient!

I can’t live without… My pillow, a home comfort when I’m travelling or onsite with an event

I really wish I had… Predictable answer – but more hours in a day

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Like many people I have given this way too much thought. For my ultimate dinner party and this is my fantasy list so I am going for it, forgetting about trying to impress: Amy Schmauer, Ricky Gervais, JFK and Johnny Depp (for a bit of eye candy)!

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be… Be ready to deal with surprises and always remain solution-focused!
