The great thing about my job is… I get to promote the strengths of Australia’s global city – commerce, culture, community and creativity to the world. And I get to work alongside some amazing people in the process.

The challenge for industry is… To continually innovate and set the trends, not follow them.

My greatest achievement is… If I have to pick one thing that’s influenced my life enormously, I’d have to say being brave enough in my early 20s to move to a country where I didn’t know anyone and didn’t speak the language. The experience taught me a lot about myself and my approach to life.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… For Sydney, I’d have to say the Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct plans that are due to be announced at the end of the year. We’re excited to see how this will be developed.

I try to relax by… Spending time with friends and family enjoying good food, good wine and good company.

I don’t understand why… Our society has become so lacking in compassion for those less fortunate.

Currently the album playing on my iPod is… Alicia Keys, Songs in A Minor.

My favourite venue is… My front verandah!

I am scared to death of… Spiders, specifically those that hide in towels in the bathroom…eeek.

I can’t live without… A minimum of 6 hours sleep each night if you want me to be able to string a sentence together.

Blackberry,  iPhone or Android … iPhone. A recent convert. I also love my Samsung Galaxy.

I really wish I had… Room at home for a baby grand piano (and the budget to buy one).

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Malcom Fraser, Kevin Spacey, Maria Callas, Hilary Clinton.
