Hunter shoots high to nab win

The who’s who of the NSW meetings events scene frocked up for the 2014 State MEA Awards held in Sydney last night.

Hundreds of Meetings Events Australia members and guests packed Merivale’s Ivy ballroom to attend the glitzy affair, which will move on to Victoria tonight followed by South Australia and Western Australia.

Among the list of award winners included the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, which took home the coveted gong for Best Meeting Venue – Under 500 Delegates.

Managed by IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the award was accepted by the resort’s business development manager Belinda Harvy, who said she was especially proud of the award win “given the strength and calibre of the state competition”.

Meanwhile general manager Robert Coates, said the award cemented the resort’s “outstanding contribution to business events, representing regional New South Wales venues”.

“The win demonstrates how well we pull together as a team to deliver successful conferences and events, even during a busy 12 months of construction. It’s a very exciting time for our Resort with the recent opening of the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Conference and Events Centre. The Centre has been in demand since the initial development announcement in early 2014 being the newest and largest regional NSW conference venue” Coates said.

The resort has completed major developments this year following the opening of the largest conference venue in regional NSW as well as the launch of the Lovedale Brewery and is currently refurbishing its spa and leisure facilities.
