Mighty NZ delegation reports PCOA success

Delegates to this year’s Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) Conference were impressed by the efforts of New Zealand largest ever delegation with the destination on their radar for the coming year, according to Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) Australia manager Sharon Auld.

The New Zealand contingent at this year’s conference, which took place from November 29 to December 1 at Adelaide Convention Centre, was made up a record 17 exhibitors. Celebrating the destination’s Maori traditions was a major focus, with the exhibitors keen to show delegates how the unique heritage can add a dynamic twist to meetings held in the destination.

Suppliers from eight key New Zealand conference destinations – Auckland, Hamilton/Waikato, Rotorua, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin – updated delegates on the latest from their regions.

Auld said delegates experienced a “real sense” of New Zealand’s unique cultural qualities, and discovered more about the ease of access, hospitality, scenery and value for money New Zealand offers Australian conference groups.

“You can fly direct to New Zealand from seven different Australian airports including Adelaide and Perth, arrive to state-of-the-art facilities, world class cuisine, and a range of activities and accommodation options that won’t cost the earth,” she said.

CINZ also took the opportunity to promote its own annual trade show MEETINGS 2016, with strong support from Air New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand.

Meanwhile, two lucky visitors to the 100% Pure New Zealand stand received special gifts. Shari Carr from Aura Events (NSW), was gifted an authentic piece of New Zealand Pounamu (greenstone) from Destination Rotorua Business Events, and Denise Raven from Access Events (SA) won a gift pack of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc.
