Vivid to light up Sydney for three weeks

Sydney will get its longest run of Vivid lights this year, with sites on both sides of the harbour illuminated for a record 23 nights.

The annual festival of light and music will showcase outdoor lighting projections along the Sydney Harbour foreshore including on the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

To celebrate Taronga Zoo’s 100th birthday, Vivid Sydney will cross the Harbour Bridge to bring its illumination spectacles to the zoo for the first time.

More than 1.7 million spectators took in the dazzling sights and sounds last year.

“Expanding the festival in 2016 will give international visitors more time to experience the spectacular light, music and ideas that illuminate our Harbour City each winter,” Destination NSW chief executive Sandra Chipchase said on Monday.

Vivid Sydney will run from May 27 to June 18.
