Crystalbrook opens 255-room art hotel complete with old-school milk bar

Crystalbrook Collection’s second five-star Cairns property, Bailey, has officially opened.

Located in the heart of Cairns’ cultural precinct and close to the Esplanade boardwalk and lagoon, Bailey is the second of Crystalbrook Collection’s five-star properties in the region, and brings with it a flair for Australian art.

“As a Cairns local, the hotel may have a soft spot for arts from the region but those from further afield will also be celebrated,” Crystalbrook Collection said in a statement.

At launch, Bailey will partner with Mainie Australia, Cairns Indigenous Art Fair and TAFE to showcase the works of local artists and students with a program of opening festivities.

While featuring 255 spacious guest rooms and residences, the hotel is also bringing back the old-school milk bar vibe, with the hotel’s very own serving up childhood favourites with a strong dose of nostalgia (and no shortage of Instagrammable foods and products as well).

Moreover, as a Crystalbrook property, the hotel remains focused on being innovative and sustainable, but it is also art-focused.

Bailey brings with it an emphasis on art and gastronomy, and draws inspiration from interiors, design, music, food and technology to create distinct and tailored experiences for its guests, the company explained.

Of particular relevance to MICE event planners, Bailey features three restaurants and bars, and meeting spaces for up to 150 people. It also features a rooftop mezzanine plunge pool and a 24-hour fitness centre.

The hotel features dedicated art spaces in public areas, as well, and celebrates a different artist on each of the 12 floors. Bailey will also host an ongoing art program covering evening workshops, poetry recitals and dance performances.
