Voyages celebrates Uluru launch

Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is celebrating the launch of the Uluru Meeting Place in Ayers Rock with a number of incentives for meeting planners.

Scheduled for completion in October, the $29.5 million redevelopment includes an upgrade and expansion of the existing conference facilities. The Sails in the Desert Hotel will also receive a makeover, and a new conference centre will be established.

Celebrating the new facilities, Voyages is offering a number of rewards for meeting planners, including free accommodation for all bookings valued at over $25,000.

Planners who book events up to $65,000 will receive accommodation and add-ons valued up to $2106, while bookings up to $125,000 will receive rewards valued up to $5780. Planners who secure bookings worth more than $125,000 will receive two nights at Longitude 131 and return flights with Virgin Australia.

Making the announcement at an industry event in Sydney last week, Voyages managing director Koos Klein remained confident the new facilities would entice new MICE business.

“We believe that the creation of a modern conference centre will establish the Uluru Meeting Place as an important new option in Australia for meeting planners,” he said.

Klein also touched on Voyages’ efforts to support the local community, noting that all proceeds will go towards Indigenous training and employment.

“All profits from Voyages business activities pass through our owners, the Indigenous Land Corporation, to go toward building the resort experience and support Indigenous training and employment,” he said. “This, in turn, means that any meeting which takes places makes a real contribution to an organisation’s commitment to social responsibility.
